Senior Associate, Portfolio Management

About The Position

POSITION: Senior Associate, Portfolio Management


REPORTS TO: Senior VP, Executive VP 


This New York, NY-based position’s primary responsibility will be leading the asset management effort with respect to a portfolio of Ground Leased assets. These assets include investments in various types of real estate including multifamily, office, industrial, hotel, entertainment, and retail. The position will also play a role in the asset management of a portfolio of Loan investments. Responsibilities will be varied and some domestic travel may be required.

The candidate will have a high degree of exposure to real estate transactions and must be a self-starter and able to think critically.  



  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all existing ground lease portfolio tenants
  • Develop and maintain relationships with tenants and tenant’s third party vendors and representatives
  • Work closely with internal lease administration team to implement and maintain best practices and procedures for tenant communication, rent collection, and enforcement of lease responsibilities
  • Follow up on receipt and sufficiency of lease required financials
  • Track debt covenants, credit criteria, and leasehold debt terms
  • Develop an in depth understanding of key asset specific lease provisions and key risks associated with the company’s position on those assets
  • Work closely with internal legal team to ensure any amendments, refinancings, transfers, etc. are documented correctly and efficiently
  • Create, prepare and maintain quarterly asset management reports for presentation to senior management tracking all ground lease tenant reporting
  • Assess and analyze real estate and credit risk
  • Formulate and provide insightful opinions to help generate actions to be taken in the portfolios and Prepare analysis and recommendations for senior management as needed for underlying portfolio of ground lease investments
  • Monitor real estate submarket activity to proactively identify any areas of concern in the portfolio
  • Review, track, and assist in the coordination of annual appraisals
  • Work with internal ground lease origination/acquisition team to identify any future growth opportunities in existing portfolio


  • Business related undergraduate degree, masters preferred
  • 5-7 years’ relevant experience
  • Must have related work experience in Real Estate or Analyst field and familiarity with finance terms, structures, and industry-standard operating assumptions for both commercial and multi-family/condo properties
  • Must have a high level of proficiency with financial modeling/spreadsheets
  • Strong analytic, financial, communication skills, and critical thinking skills with the ability to draw conclusions from market research, site visits, financial models, published reports and conversations with borrowers and other real estate professionals
  • Self-motivated and display strong attention to detail
  • Possess the self-confidence to articulate and defend recommendations and question those of others
  • A positive and proactive work ethic and comfort operating with limited direction
  • High degree of personal integrity and intellectual curiosity, seeks to participate in a merit based compensation structure that encourages innovation
  • Comfort in unstructured environments and entrepreneurial work culture. Thinking outside of the box is the norm and is expected at the firm

  • Strong experience in all Microsoft Office Suite tools especially in Excel and PowerPoint and ARGUS experience
  • Experience in Salesforce or other CRM interface
